NAPA to compete in WGI in 2010

Senior members of Northern Academy are today flying out to Chicago to meet close friends Michael Gaines, Andy Toth and Tommy Allen to go through some final details surrounding their plans to compete in the 2010 WGI Championships.

The full details of the trip will be released very shortly, including which Class Northern Academy will be competing in.

Commenting on the venture, NAPA founder and Chairman Paul Morgan says “for some time now we have been looking into the possibility of expanding our learning and competing in the WGI Championships, but our domestic priority has been resting with the WGUK circuit. In 2009 unfortunately, the Championship Finals in the UK and the USA clashed and so any trip to WGI was going to force us to make a choice, which for us meant staying loyal to WGUK. This remains our priority and with the Championship dates being more accommodating for the 2010 season, it is now possible for us to continue with our plans to enter the World stage and compete at the World Championships. With Nicola Garlick (Northern Academy’s Guard Director) leading a team of UK, European and World renown Designers and Instructors for the entire weekend with a clear mandate, I will be able to make more firm confirmations once they return. Myself and the entire NAPA Board are very excited about the venture. Members, Staff and Friends were told about the trip to WGI on the evening of our Historic Triple Crown Championship Win in Essex on the 4th April, and the news was received with the sort of excitement that was expected. I am particularly delighted that our plans will not affect any commitments that NAPA has to WGUK and I anticipate the same level of support through show sponsorship, and competitive entrants that all have now come to expect of the Organization. WGUK is an integral part of what has made NAPA so strong and we will continue to do everything that we can to ensure that it’s growth and well being are foremost in our plans going forwards. It is important for me, the Board and for everyone at NAPA to continue the educational experiences of every member under our charge, which includes every member and not just the Open Class team, and so the full 2010 NAPA schedule will include many new and exciting additions for everyone to enjoy. Foremost in all of our minds is the members well being and to create environments that facilitate learning on so many different levels for so many different and varied individuals throughout the organization. This remains our highest priority above all.”.
