Vintage Announce 2009 Shows

Vintage Percussion are proud to present their 2009 winter production entitled ‘VANITY’.

The show will represent ‘a journey through a groups’ struggle with social acceptability’. With a score split into 5 movements we will endeavour to portray the conflicting emotions of arrogance, isolation, peer pressure and self-confidence using a wide range of music extracts ranging from Les Misérables and Billy Joel through to Destiny’s Child! This will be set against an exciting and powerful visual interpretation using reflection and the introduction of colour.

The 2009 season finds Vintage Percussion with their new Score Arrangers of Carl Curtis, Joe Rodwell and Andy Jefferies and their visual package again created by Steve Tearle. With an increase in both membership and staff group we are confident that their creative talents will enable us to strengthen and build upon our successes of 2008.

Vintage will be competing in both the CGN and WGUK 2009 circuits and are looking forward to renewing the excellent spirit of competition and friendships formed with the 2008 indoor percussion lines. We hope you enjoy our production as much as we will enjoy performing it!

The show is based in the windy city of Chicago. Capone’s Gangs govern the streets and crime is on the up. The police are clamping down and the gang members are on the run. Watch as news is written and history is made in the fight against Gang Warfare in 1930’s America. Using the Jazz Classic Lets Face the Music and Dance Vintage Colourguard will take you on a journey back in time.

Under the Direction of Alan Payne this is Vintage Colourguard’s first season in competition and we will be entering WGUK and CGN Open Class; as well as the 2009 WGI European Regional in the United Kingdom. The 2009 Open Class Staff Line Up includes James Hibbeler, Tracy Jones, Andrew Pearce, Emma Eddy, Olivia Adams and we are extremely excited to have Steve Tearle writing our visual package. The 2009 Show promises to be a crowd pleaser packed with energy.

With the future always something in mind The Vintage Colourguard will also be holding weekly training for potential future members of both Vintage and the 37th Kingswood and we will be welcoming people of all ages and abilities. So if Colourguard is something you have always wanted to try then come along and join in the fun.
