WGUK Judging - The Way Forward

On Saturday 19th April 2008, a group of invited like-minded individuals spent the day together debating a subject that is important to the future of our activity.

This forum proved to be a springboard to a number of proposals that are currently being prepared and actioned subject to ratification by the WGUK Board. The main headline points being:

• The setting up of a Winterguard Judges Advisory Group - the members of which will come from within the current Judges plus Directors and Instructors of Guards.

• The appointment of a prominent Education Director to structure and enhance a training programme.


Their brief will be far reaching and will include: -

• Understanding our competitive needs

• Training Programmes

• Structure

• Processes

• Short, medium and long term needs.

• Judge Recruitment / Retention

• Timelines

• Education

• Resources


The group has tasked themselves quite heavily in order to get this important aspect of our activity structured and in place quickly and full details will be announced once all the appointments and personnel are in place.

WGUK is committed to this important, and often neglected, part of our activity and see this as an exciting step forward in the evolution of Winterguard in the UK.
