WGUK Judging - The Way Forward

At a recent WGUK Board meeting the current situation regarding the number of available judges was discussed at some length and it was agreed that we need to take a serious look at how we overcome the drastic shortage we are currently experiencing.

WGUK have agreed to fund a number of meetings which are scheduled to be held over the coming months and we are now looking for volunteers to come forward who are prepared and able to spend a day sitting around a table looking at how we can start this process. We are very conscience that there will be no overnight fix and therefore this will be a continuous project in which we wish to ensure we engage the whole membership of WGUK in helping us solve.

Also although this event is open to all organisations we are extremely keen to engage with Judges, Ex Judges, Directors, Instructors and even Marching Members who may be considering judging in the widest sense.

The first date is set for Saturday 19th April and this meeting will be held in the Midlands. We are now looking for approximately 20 people in the first instance for this meeting. If we get a larger number of people come forward then we may need to whittle this number down but this will not mean that anyone not invited to attend this first meeting would not be asked to come along to any subsequent one.

If anyone would like to be considered for this meeting (and please check you can actually attend on the date advised above) can you please email admin@wguk.org.uk as soon as possible - by next Wednesday 2nd April at the latest would be very useful - and then we can send out formal invitations depending on the number of volunteers that come forward.

We should point out that this meeting is NOT designed to be a "critique" of the judging during the 2008 season (although we are looking to hold an activity wide event later in the year where the 2008 season can be looked back on to see how well, or otherwise, any changes that were implemented worked) this meeting is to start a process of working out The Way Forward.
